EL JUEGO DEL TIGRE (JEU DU TIGRE)
A large suspended textile work created through serigraphy, textile ink, embroidery, and hand-applied beadwork. Hanging freely in space, it brings the weight of a powerful animal into a soft, yielding form.
Among branches and vegetation, a tiger appears with a flower falling from its mouth. Suspended in the space between them, the flower leaves the gesture unresolved: a release, perhaps, or the quiet loss of something its strength alone could not hold. It remains delicate, asking nothing of the tiger except that it know how to carry its strength.
The work considers what allows power to become a source of refuge. Tenderness is not an ornament to strength, but the quality that makes it possible to trust. To be a guardian is to remain attentive to what can so easily be damaged, especially when it rests close and unafraid.
Here, protection appears as a delicate practice rather than a permanent nature. Teeth and claws remain, but they alone cannot keep a place of trust. That place depends on quieter gestures: the measured movement, the softened grip, the care taken with what has chosen to stay near. When that care falters, strength may remain intact even as the sweetness around it begins to slip away.
Conceived for intimate spaces, Juego del tigre holds both the promise of a guardian and the question that accompanies it: whether strength can preserve the tenderness that once made it welcome.
